For the surprise lunch party to celebrate Cath's birthday, her husband Carl Taylor to sing classical songs between meal courses. I was so impressed with his huge tenor voice that I asked him to come and do his 'special Pavarotti Night' on September 2nd as a part of our festival week celebrating 25 years of Langar Hall Hotel & Restaurant. Rhubarb soufflee, poached rhubarb & ginger sorbet.
Difficult to produce for a party of 40 but the chefs managed to get them all out at the same time.

Sunday April 18th

My car is the little red one at the back. This is a very pretty Aston Martin. My goodness our visitors have some lovely cars. I plan to photograph a collection when the camera is working and can be found.

View from my room. Tiny birds singing in the trees and I can hear bees ! Its a miracle. I was shocked to hear what I thought was a plane but it turned out to be a ballon taking off in the next field.

Little Damascus

Here is where I am spending my volcano hoiday. Its really nice! Good food, friendly service, peace and quiet, and the other refugees are great!

Sunday April 11th

I heard and saw swarms of honey bees in the blossom yesterday just when I though honey bees were extinct in this area. And proper little ladybirds when I never saw one last year. Guests even had lunch in the garden and today they played croquet and children jumped on the new trampoline. No one mentions the election or politics except to agree that they switch off.
